AOD-9604 is a synthetic peptide fragment of amino acids 176–191 of human growth hormone (hGH). Specifically designed to mimic the lipolytic effects of hGH without its effects on tissue growth or glycemic control. Developed by Monash University (Australia).

Effects
Positive effects: In Phase IIa human trials, modest total body fat reduction (~1.2 kg vs. placebo over 24 weeks at 1 mg/day). Favorable metabolic profile.
Adverse effects: Well tolerated in clinical trials. Mild headache, local injection site reactions.
Considerations & contraindications
- Not approved by FDA/EMA for obesity indication
- Phase III clinical trials were not completed
- Classified as OTC drug in Australia (TGA, 2014) for some uses
